It’s Top 100 time again and it’s a big congratulations to Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike! They took the crown from Martin Garrix, who’s dropped into second place after three years at the top spot. The poll was bigger than ever this year, with a massive 1.3 million votes, making it the largest music poll on the planet. Revealed at Amsterdam Music Festival – the highlight of Amsterdam Dance Event – DVLM were supported by David Guetta, Armin van Buuren and Tiësto in front of a sold-out 36,000 crowd, as the Top 100 DJs poll continues to explode in popularity. The more eagle-eyed among you will have noticed that we’ve got two covers this issue — Carl Cox gracing the front of the reverse cover. This is because we’re increasing our spotlight on the Alternative Top 100 DJs poll, in association with Beatport, for 2019. So not only have 14 house and techno acts made it into the regular Top 100 this time, the most for a fair number of years, but — by honing in on house and techno DJs — we also have a definitive chart now that focuses on more underground DJs. Check it out by flipping the mag over. Outside the Top 100 we’ve got self-confessed contrarian Lovefingers revealing his DJing ethos, Vicetone on why they moved to Nashville, Maya Jane Coles, Yotto, Fatima Hajji and an extended feature with UK electronic master Floating Points. Phew.
