BEST OF NORTH AMERICA
The results are in for the third installment of our Best of North America Awards — our annual poll showcasing the cream of North America’s electronic music scene. Voted for by you, the fans, the categories include Best DJ, Producer, Festival, Club and Album as well as an extra special award for the artist that fronts this month’s cover: Richie Hawtin.
Undeniably a legend of electronic music, he’s the winner of our Best of North America Outstanding Contribution award, given to artists and DJs who continue to redefine their role within an ever-changing industry. Richie’s shaped and shaken techno and technology over 25 years and in our interview (from page 22), we talk about the good times and dark times that have made him the artist he is today, and what the future holds. You can read the rest of the BoNA results from page 30.
Elsewhere, Russian DJ Anastasia Kristensen explains how a life-changing moment before the biggest gig of her career has changed her outlook on electronic music (page 40), we explore the not-for-profit labels that are releasing for charity (page 54), Paula Temple takes on Trump (page 59), Klingande reveals his saxy secrets (page 72) and we head to Desert Hearts to get the low-down on their community-driven festival (page 88). There’s just enough space left to mention our in-depth look at North America’s online radio revolution, from page 49.
See you next issue…
