This issue we unveil the results of our Top 100 Clubs poll, an eagerly awaited time in the dance music industry calendar. We had over 600,000 votes in the poll this year, and clubs from 36 different countries from almost every continent in the world placed in the Top 100 — indicative of just how global our scene is nowadays.

Every year, I hear stories from DJs or dedicated clubbers about how many of the 100 they’ve been to, and the results give illuminating indications about worldwide trends in our culture — turn to page 25 onwards for the full analysis and profiles of all the clubs in the poll, and it’s congratulations to Green Valley in Brazil for retaining the top spot this time around. Elsewhere in the issue we go to New York with ace pansexual party-night He.She.They (p76); talk to junglist S.P.Y about his new album (p83); check in with scene stalwarts David Morales (p87) and Juan Atkins (p96), and profile a wealth of new names in our Bubblers, Get To Know and feature sections. Plus there’s all yer usual on-point reviews from our team of experts, and all your other regular favourite sections.

Overshadowing this month’s output somewhat is the tragic news about Keith Flint’s suicide — it’s so sad, he touched so many lives. The response of our scene, however, has been incredible (p12) — no longer is mental health something to be ashamed to talk about. I’m no expert, but clearly it’s vital, now more than ever, that anyone having a dark time talks to somebody. Call a helpline such as the Samaritans, where there are experts on hand 24/7 to chat to anybody experiencing severe depression or suicidal thoughts. Get help. Speak to somebody. It just remains for me to wish everybody in The Prodigy extended family all the best at this difficult time, from all of us at DJ Mag.
