2018 - where the heck did that go? It's the end of the year already, yet in some ways it feels like the last 12 months have skipped a few weeks here and there. Must be what working on the hamster wheel of monthly magazine deadlines does to you, maybe - not that I'm complaining. Our scene has gone through a multitude of twists and turns since the start of the year. We document these from page 31 onwards with our round-up of the news of the year, and pick out the tracks, remixes, albums and comps that have blown-up the discotheques over the past 12 months or so. Mumdance (p22) is a great cover star to have to round the year off - notable for mashing up techno, grime, drum & bass and hardcore, he symbolises the growing trend for trashing genre restrictions in favour of just playing and making stuff that's good. Long may this tendency continue into 2019.

Elsewhere we round up the highlights from ADE (p54), one of my own being getting my phone back after leaving it in a cab while drunk one night (ahem). We feature Cinthie (p39) and Clouds (p49), as well as a host of new talent, and look back at The Count & Sinden's 'Beeper' fidgety game changer from a decade ago - when ten major things we rely on now didn't exist (p61). Plus there's all yer usual news, reviews, charts and tech to feast your eyes upon. It's been an action-packed year for DJ Mag, to say the least, and we hope that our beloved electronic music scene has rocked your worlds as much as it has ours. It just remains for me to wish every single one of you a very merry festive season. Have a good one.
