It’s a new year, and a new chapter for DJ Mag. As you may have noticed, for this flagship product we’ve upped the paper quality, refreshed the design and increased the distribution — including in Canada and the US — as we reimagine the mag as a quarterly product, in keeping with the reading habits of more and more people today.

Issues of DJ Mag from now onwards will have three cover stars — nominally for one month each within the quarter. This issue we’ve landed three incredible artists: first up, Joy Orbison, who cleaned up at our Best Of British awards back in December, winning Best DJ and Best Track. This discerning, genre-traversing artist’s story is told expertly by Ben Murphy from page 38 onwards.

After nominating Nooriyah for our Future Star award last November, we thought it appropriate to give the Middle Of Nowhere founder her first ever cover feature. Nooriyah is helping to redefine expectations on global dancefloors, as Tamzé Pillay outlines in the fascinating feature starting from page 64. And DJ Mag’s Amy Fielding checks in with New Yorkers, the Martinez Brothers, after one of the busiest years of their career. Celebrating a decade of their Cuttin’ Headz imprint and another hugely successful 12 months of international gigging, the inseparable Bros tell us how Ibiza changed everything for them from page 88 onwards.

We also explore the electronic scene in Norway’s techno haven Tromsø, big up some of the unsung heroes of New York house, profile the new generation of UK grime artists, highlight some global talent to look out for in our Ones To Watch feature, hear the story behind Joe Smooth’s ‘Promised Land’ game changer, and lots more besides.

Hope you like the reimagined mag, put together with love by the DJ Mag team. If you want to subscribe, head to djmagshop.com
